WVST volunteers have accomplished a lot this year, including expanding our services, and we’re excited to share our achievements with you.
First, we successfully completed another winter retreat, which was particularly special. This year, we hosted five couples, each with over 20 years of military experience, and we began helping them develop plans for their post-service lives.
We also introduced a new service at our retreats specifically for spouses of fallen service members, known as Gold Star Spouses. Our first summer retreat for these spouses was a success, providing them with support and helping them process their trauma over the six-day event.
Following that, we hosted a fantastic summer retreat for Gold Star Kids. Additionally, we organized a unique summer retreat—a rafting trip designed specifically for wounded veterans. This retreat was made possible thanks to the incredible support of Dr. Sandi Solem, a nurse with extensive experience working with veterans and a military spouse of 30 years.
Finally, our winter retreat for veteran couples went off without a hitch, proving to be as successful and enjoyable as our previous ones.
We’re thrilled to have shared our 2024 achievements with you and look forward to what the future holds!
